AWARDS NIGHT GREAT SUCCESS
June 28th saw the renaissance of the Panel's Community Awards Initiative. Held in the Civic Centre, and graced by the presence of a number of dignitaries (including the Chief Constable of Strathclyde Police and other senior officers,Depute Provost Russell Clearie, Linda Fabiani, MSP together with local Councillors) the night was declared a resounding success by all. EK News coverage of the night

As a direct result of the this success it was thought that an e-zine may be an ideal vehicle through which to widen our contacts and strengthen our Panel. With this in mind a temporary web site has been published Here .

The idea behind this newsletter and proposed website, is to encourage communication and co-operation between relevant groups and agencies having an interest in promoting Crime Prevention, Community Safety and Problem Solving Initiatives throughout our area.It is hoped they will become a permanent feature.

For a number of valid reasons [not least in avoiding being classified as "spam"] any future edition of this e-zine will be available purely on an 'Opt-in' basis - with subscription being free. Details at the end of this edition.

OVERVIEW
As a volunteer led organisation with limited funding we are presently exploring avenues whereby we can obtain outside funding. We will be actively seeking sponsorship from local business, whilst, at the same time, applying for charity status.
For those who might like to contribute news items, a few 'old' articles follow. These came from an East Kilbride Community Council inspired Newletter and are still relevant today - nothing is "new" ;o)

BLASTS FROM THE PAST

1. Problem Solving Policing

2. Community Against Crime #1

3. Community Against Crime #2

FOR THE FUTURE
Calderwood has a proactive Community Council who work closely with their Community Police Officer. He regularly provides updates of 'crime figures' relevant to Calderwood. Perhaps other Community Councils may like to submit their figures for inclusion on our website.
