Frank Docherty attended the recent "One Year On" meeting of the Cross Party Working Group on Childhood Sexual Abuse. After which he chatted with various people, passing on details regarding INCAS - and, more importantly , making sure it was widely understood that as "We will not be going away" After a further meeting with Andy Kerr MSP, he wrote to advise that he'll be discussing the content matter with Marilyn Livingstone, MSP. Any outcome, and our actions, will be reported on in a later edition. "Legal Latest!" Click here ![]() |
Hi, I'm John.
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you all in this the first, on-line, edition of In Quest At the last group meeting (Tuesday October 22) it was agreed [and accepted by the Steering Committee] that we adopt the name INCAS [In Care Abuse Survivors].
A Draft of the proposed 'Constitution' was circulated and will be the subject of discussion
1. To ascertain continued interest in and confirmation of a wish to formally apply for membership.
2. To seek a Mandate which will then allow us to proceed with certain avenues of research - in relation to forthcoming campaign strategies.
By definition, this Newsletter will be of particular relevance to victims [Historical or current]
It is our believe - confirmed by positive feedback - that this form of 'Support' can be more productive than individual psychiatric counselling. With discussions and campaigns on-going - in the effort to have INCAS officially recognised - it would be greatly appreciated if you could direct any correspondence to; First Floor 26 Ivanhoe East Kilbride G74 3NZ. or, email INCAS In this way some of the strain may be taken away from "The Doc". In an effort to prevent the recent "1964 Cut-Off" ruling - described by Marilyn Livingstone, MSP as "arbitrary" - being upheld in the Court of Session we ask supporters to write their MSP / MP asking him/her to contact Jim Wallace, MSP - Justice Minister - to overturn or amend the ruling. Upholding of same in the Court of Session would ensure real discrimination towards clients [some 498 from Nazareth House alone] which lawyer Cameron Fyfe is taking forward. PETER MULLAN PLEDGES SUPPORT At a recent meeting with Frank, in his home, Peter Mullan, Director of the award winning movie The Magdalene Sisters , said he'd be more than pleased to be associated with INCAS. Reverend Alastair Ramage -
Paddy Doyle tells of a "Journal" sent [by post] to a number of addresses in the UK. He feels the content is cause for some concern - if only for it's anonymous nature and the author's obvious accessibility to some personal data. Paddy has reproduced the 'Journal' - unchanged - and it can be viewed here Like Paddy, we'd be interested to find out if anyone can throw some light as to the identity of the author(s).
